What is the interactive sightsinging program?

The world's first web-based Interactive Sightsinging Program is a sequentially organized sightsinging program with examples organized by concepts of melody, rhythm, meter, harmony and tonality. The sequential program divided into 7-levels with 100 examples each; a total of 700 sightsinging examples. Approximately 300 of these examples are in two, three and four parts which enable the students to practice sightsinging as well as independence of singing with the context of other parts.

What makes it unique?

For the first time, students are able to utilize the features of this program via the internet. There is no software or hardware to purchase. Students can access the program through any computer with an internet connection, anywhere in the world. Each example has an audio file that students can playback for to hear the example correctly to build, reinforce and evaluate the concepts of aural training. The philosophies behind the development of the program...

  • Music literacy and sightsinging ability is one of the most important skills that we can teach our students.
  • The most effective and efficient way to improve the quality of a group is to make improvements at the individual level.
  • Students are often inhibited from practicing or preparing on their own due to the lack of pitch reference.
  • Built-in accurate reinforcement ensures students learn the concepts correctly.
  • It is often difficult to devote as much time as we would like to sightsinging due to the performance aspects and desires of our curriculum.
  • Students are attracted to innovative and engaging approaches in instruction.  Students will have incentive to practice when the activities are varied.
  • Using technology such as computers and the internet is an attractive means of reaching students in their own environment.
